Wild Peeta

Are you on Twitter?
If the answer to that is yes, then you know exactly who/what Wild Peeta is. I can easily dub Wild Peeta as the most social media-y active restaurant in Dubai and even in the UAE. Their side bar, on their website, consists of dream, eat, believe, participate and more. Not your usual subject matter for a restaurant – but is exemplary.
Walking into the restaurant, you can quickly notice their social media savviness. Projected on the wall is their Twitter home page. I automatically tweet “@ Wild Peeta” just to see my name on the wall – it appears and I smile.
I approach the counter and am asked:
- What type of bread I would like? White or wheat – I say white.
- What type of sauce I would want? Italian, Mexican Khaleeji, Thai etc... After tasting each one, I choose the Arabian Garlic Mayonnaise.
- What type of fillings I fancy? I pick parsley, pickles and salt and pepper.
I then select the yogurt and pepper potato chips, Arabian salad and lentil soup to complete my meal.
I drizzle my pomegranate vinaigrette sauce over the salad and satisfyingly munch away – the salad has all the right components of a traditional fatoush.
My lentil soup is light and well seasoned, if I could, I would potentially make the soup a bit thicker to really feel the true power of a lentil soup.
Taking a bite out of my self-created shawarma, the napkin lying on my table catches my eye, imprinted on it, Wild Peeta’s tag line - Fusion Shawarmas and Salads.
I then realize that my shawarma was composed based on my internal shawarma box which was formed from preconceived notions of what a shawarma SHOULD entail.
Reproaching the counter, I decide to step outside my shawarma box and let my taste buds guide what my sandwich should be.
The result is a Mexican sauced, chicken filled peeta with all the toppings.
Biting into my new shawarma, the first thought that comes into my mind is, this is not a shawarma. I then counter my o-so-stubborn mind by saying, yes it is, but it’s a fusion shawarma! What a great thinking-out-of-the-box activity.
Did I mention the potato chips? Made in UAE, no artificial flavors and one of the best potato chips I have had.
I believe Wild Peeta is a great concept, soup, salad and a hearty peeta sandwich. I do, on the other hand, have some pointers that would make it an even greater concept:
- Though the peeta bread is scrumptious, I would enjoy a thinner version of it. That way, I wouldn’t fill up on bread and would easily end up having more sandwiches with varying sauces, meats and toppings.
- When I order my sandwich, the meat or chicken should be carved directly off the roaster – and should not be pre carved.
- Generosity should be through the roof with regards to fries in my shawarma.
I do heart that they are a 100% Emirati enterprise!
Wild Peeta now delivers to certain areas.
