L’Atelier des Chefs

ADC
Rightly named The Chefs Workshop because at L'Atelier Des Chefs you truly become a Chef. One of France’s most creative exports, L'Atelier des Chefs is a cooking, learning and entertaining concept all rolled into one. A professional chef takes you through the ins and outs of preparing a gourmet meal. As seven of my friends and I enter Atelier Des Chefs we are surrounded by the finest kitchenware and appliances that instantly triggers our inner Michelin starred chef auras. The menu we chose to conquer includes fresh goat cheese and tuna sushi roll, Guinea fowl (type of farm bred chicken) glazed with honey and soy sauce with a mushroom risotto and chocolate fondant. Our work stations are individually set up and tailored to our menu including ingredients, utensils and a whole lot of possibility. We proceed with preparing the chocolate fondant by melting, combining and secretly licking the chocolate mixture. Our sushi lesson comes next, we start by laying out the seaweed, pressing on the rice, adding in the tuna and goat cheese and rolling it up. I think in my head “Ha! Who does Zuma think it is now?” We continue to prepare our risotto and Guinea fowl. We even learn how to cut an onion without tearing. Yes it is possible! There are 8 of us in the class and not one tear is shed. And finally the best part – the room magically transforms into a dinner area where we are served everything we prepared plus wine. The sushi is deliciously flavorful; the creamy goat cheese mixture makes all the difference. The Guinea fowl is tender although has a slight ducky taste - I’m only a fan of ducks when their alive and I get to feed them bread. The fondant is literally fresh out of the oven, cooked on the outside and molten on the inside - sublime. I’d encourage everyone to try Atelier des Chefs, as a group or even by yourself. Not only do you enjoy a meal but you also learn something valuable and have fun doing it. Check out the website for different class types, cuisines, timings and prices. www.atelierdeschefsdubai.com Example dishes to learn include: -        Salmon with a honey and soy sauce glaze served with carrots -        Sushi -        Chocolate fondant/Soufflé -        Escalope of foie gras with raspberries and Sechuan pepper -        Spiced saute of lamb with olives, couscous and vegetables -        Fresh pasta -        And 12,000 other recipes (yes, that’s a 12 with three 0s!)
